Seeing is Believing.
Providing a physical environment with props that children can see and feel is a great way to stimulate learning.
Many teachers have creative and exciting ideas to foster such environments but just don't have the know-how or the time to get it done. I work with teachers to help make their visions a reality.

This Paper Mache Tree is central to many of the classroom activities. It is ceiling-height and has shelves inside that can be accessed through small hollows.

I carved the Chinese characters into ox scapulae with a dremmel tool then I burned, painted and polished them.

The students paper mached and then I coated it with plaster, paint and finally a wax medium. It is true to size of what an actual tusk might be.

A Powerful Presence
Learning doesn't take place just in the mind. We can not truly conceptuallize something until we have experienced it. So when we can't go out in the dead of winter, let's bring the outdoors in. We don't have access to authentic ancient chinese artifacts, lets create our own. And until they clone the mammoth we'll make our own tusks.
We need to explore the world with all of our senses.

Signs
I love making signs.
This slide show contains a few that are currently up as well as some of the Headers for the outdoor calendar boards that I paint for the school.
